Frasers Property

A long-term sustainability partner.

Overview

SP Group (SP) and Frasers Property are partners in driving a sustainable future for the built environment sector. Through our suite of customised sustainable energy solutions, SP is enabling Frasers Property to reach its net-zero carbon goal by 2050.

The Need

Frasers Property has a group-wide environmental, social, and governance (ESG) target to install 215 Megawatt (MW) of renewable energy capacity at its properties by 2030. SP is contributing to this goal with Singapore’s largest single solarisation rollout for retail malls. In the latest partnership, solar panels will be deployed across seven of Frasers Property's commercial and retail properties – Alexandra Technopark, Causeway Point, Century Square, Hougang Mall, Northpoint City (North Wing), Tampines 1 and White Sands – by end-2024.

Alexandra Technopark, a quality office and business park at the Alexandra Road commercial precinct, is held by Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust; while the remaining properties are retail malls located near public transportation nodes in the suburban regions and are held by Frasers Centrepoint Trust. The properties are managed by the Group’s business unit Frasers Property Singapore.

Results

  • Installation of close to 4,500 square metres (sqm) of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels
  • Projected 920,000 kilowatt-hour (kWh) of renewable energy generated annually – equivalent to powering 450 four-room Housing Development Board flats
  • Achieve annual cost savings of approximately S$220,000
  • Carbon emissions reduction by over 370 tonnes per year

Long-Term Collaboration

In addition to the solar PV rollout in Singapore, SP and Frasers Property have been collaborating on several sustainability initiatives.

Singapore

  • Century Square and Tampines 1 are part of SP’s brownfield distributed district cooling (DDC) project in Tampines, forming two of the three key injection nodes for the network
  • Adopted SP’s Green Energy Technology (GET) TenantCare solution across 17 of its properties in Singapore
  • Installed 18 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points, with another 7 upcoming

Vietnam

  • Signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly develop and implement integrated smart building energy management solutions in Binh Duong Industrial Park (BDIP) near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

In a Nutshell

“This latest collaboration with SP Group in the solarisation programme across seven of our retail and commercial properties underscores Frasers Property’s commitment to reach net-zero carbon by 2050 and is aligned with the nation’s solar power deployment target of at least 2,000 megawatt-peak by 2030. This marks another chapter in our fruitful partnership with SP Group, as we work closely with them on other energy saving solutions at our properties such as Singapore’s first brownfield distributed district cooling network in Tampines. In support of Singapore Green Plan 2030, we will innovate continuously to build more sustainable, inclusive and healthy spaces for all.”
