BASF aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and incorporating more renewable energy to power its plants is part of BASF’s commitment to green transformation.
SP Group partnered with BASF to install its first rooftop solar panels at two of their production facilities in Singapore – at BASF’s Performance Chemicals site on Jurong Island and at Loyang, the site of Chemetall, the Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division. Scheduled to be operational by end 2025, the solar panels will power 100% of the Loyang site’s electricity demand, while helping to meet part of the Jurong Island site’s energy needs. The system will help BASF reduce its carbon emissions by almost 220 tonnes each year – equivalent to removing 200 cars off our roads annually.
